Charles Herbert Overman Obit

Beloved Charles Herbert Overman, passed away peacefully May 13, 2008, at the Bethany Nursing Home at Silver Lake, WA. He was greatly loved and admired for his sensitive intelligence and caring and will be terribly missed by his family and friends. Born November 14, 1932, at the Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee, WA, to parents, Flora and Ora Overman, his heritage was from the Mission Ridge and Entiat Valley pioneering Overman and Vaughn Families, of which he was very proud. Happily raised in the Entiat and Wenatchee Valleys, he graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1951, and was a Demolay State President during that time. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Europe 1952-54. He attended Wenatchee Valley Junior College and Seattle University in the late 1950's, while working at the Boeing Company. Working 40 years for Boeing, Charles was assigned early by them, to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, as well as New Orleans, LA, to help work on the Apollo Project in Planning and Development. His name is among the records of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., for his contributions to the early development of the Space Program in the United States. He leaves behind children, Brian Overman, Anthony and his wife, Natalia Overman and grandson, Alexander Overman; daughter, Lauren Overman; and granddaughters, Kayla and Jamie Post. Also remaining, are brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Alice Overman of Greenacres, WA; sister, Janet Chouzenoux of Littleton, CO; sister and brother-in-law, Lora and David McEachern of Auburn, WA; and sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Roy Madsen of Kodiak, AK; plus a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and next generation family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris Frank. His family gives thanks, especially for all those who assisted in recent years, with his battle with diabetes. Opportunity for Viewing will be held at Jones & Jones ~ Betts Funeral Home, corner of Ninth and Chelan Streets, Wenatchee, WA, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. The following day, Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., the Overman and Vaughn families are invited to the Interment of Charles, next to his beloved mother, Flora at the Entiat Cemetery, approximately 4 miles up the Entiat Valley River Road.
