Noah G. Durham (Joab Lindsey) was born September 22, 1854 in Georgia.  He married (1) Martha Lorena Ponder on April 07, 1878.  She was born in 1847 and died in 1878. He married (2) Mary Francis Woodul on Febuary 09, 1879 in Nevada, Arkansas. He died November 03, 1915 in Nevada, Arkansas.

   Mary Francis Woodul Durham

Quote from Henry E. Bates to Larry W. Priest "Grandpa Durham [Noah] was the finest person I knew"
Family tale told to the children was that Noah rode in to the Sutton area with his child Lorena and himself on a horse.  They meet Granny Durham [Mary Francis Woodul] at a spring.  They fell in love and soon after married.  It was told that Noah was widowed in the Durham, North Carolina area and he had left to find a new home.  My mother [Mary Lou Durham] was told this story all her life.  It turns out this story is not true.  To be more exact Noah had married Martha Ponder on April 7, 1878 in the Sutton, Arkansas area.  Their first child [Lorena B. "Rena" Durham] was born in 1878 according to an estimate from the 1880 Nevada County census.  Apparently Martha died giving birth to Lorena or very soon thereafter, as Noah married Mary Frances Woodul Bates on February 9, 1879.  Both marriages are recorded in Nevada County, Arkansas.  The grave location of Martha is not recorded or known.
Died of appendicitis at his blacksmith shop in Sutton, Arkansas Oct. 3, 1915.  Location today is where Hazel Lambert's house is.

3.  Mary Elizabeth Durham was born September 27, 1884 and died January 24, 1917 in Nevada, Arkansas.
