Our Neighborhood

Looking Towards Heaven (Pictured above is a well-loved man, named Dad and Grandpa.)

**Note** My Grandpa, Alfred Tennyson Vaughn, wrote several articles that were published  before his death July 25, 1999. We didn't know they existed, until I did some family searching on the net and they came up. They were published in 2000 after his death and are no longer available/searchable.  Recently, My mom gave me a stack of Grandpa's poems.  There are literally hundreds of them.  In that stack are several continuing stories about his growing up in Entiat and his family

Needless to say, since I didn't know these were out there, I was in tears when I saw them. They are a cherished gift from Grandpa, who was a wonderful writer and poet! We love and miss you Grandpa!

My Biography: Alfred Tennyson Vaughn

Muddy Creek was the dividing line between Brief and the Vaughn school districts.  The Bob Hawkins family ranch lay at the mouth of Muddy Creek.

Muddy Creek

Until their place was divided, their ranch joined ours near the Stelico Ranger Station.  Then two families bought in.  John Veroske family built just below the Hawkins.  They had four children in school.  Mr. & Mrs. Fish with three grown boys moved in between Veroske's and us.  The three boys, Jesse Tom and Kenneth were out of High school.

Hawkins' twin girls, Anna and Roberta started in the first grade with me in 1920.  Their youngest sister was named Marjorie.  About 1924, Jack Stanaway bouht the Hawkins Ranch.  Their oldest girl was in high school.  Beaulah was in my grade at our school.  John and Haven were younger.
