He was enlisted in the Union Army in Kentucky on April 6, 1863
and was discharged on June 10, 1865 after 2 years, 2 months,
and 4 days in service. According to the census (McMinn
Co.-1870), Peter was 37 years of age and was married to Selena
Elizabeth also 37 years old and listed as being born in Georgia
in 1833 and was worth $150.00. (6th district)

County, TN. Pete Culberson was 47 years old and was listed as
a miller of flour and meal. He and both parents were born in
North Carolina.
Peter married Mary E. Gentry on 6/11/1890. Mary's three
children were living with them. Their names were, Walter Green, Lily , Cordi (Mary Sue) and Edd. He was a farmer and could not read or wri te, but could speak English. He had 23 acres and
was 66 years old.
