Obituary: Eva Jennie (Stanley) Vaughn

ENTIAT OLD-TIMER CLAIMED BY DEATH

Mrs. Jennie Eva Vaughn, 72, Eastern Washington pioneer, and for 40 years a resident of Entiat died at her home in Entiat this morning after a long illness.
Born in 1868 near Chillicothe, Ohio, she came to Washington in 1892. She was a nurse at the state hospital at medical Lake until 1895, when she married J.G. Vaughn. In 1890, they moved to Entiat. She was a life-long member of the Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband, J.G. Vaughn; seven sons, the Rev. David Vaughn of Entiat, Stanley, William, Daniel and Elmer Vaughn of Wenatchee, Herbert of Long Beach, California., and Alfred of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Mrs. Flora Overman of Entiat, Mrs. Evaleen Ambler of Tracyton; and 24 grandchildren. The body is at Jones & Jones.
Funeral will be Monday at 1 o’clock in the Entiat Christian Church with the Rev. Rex Dallas in charge and burial at Entiat.

OBITUARY

Funeral Held for Mrs. Joe Vaughn

Entiat, July 11- The Christian church was filled to the capacity Monday afternoon when friends and neighbors gathered for the funeral of Mrs. Joe Vaughn, one of the early settlers in the Entiat valley. Flowers were from the home gardens, as requested by Mrs. Vaughn, who was a great lover of flowers.
Mrs. W.W. Sherman and Mrs. L.G. Asher sang “Face to Face”, “Asleep in Jesus” and “Sweet by and By.”
Pallbearers were Norman and Orville Cannon, T.J. Jones, A. Johnson, Zimir Small and Einor Moe. Burial was in the Entiat Cemetery.
Mrs. Marrian Sanders, Tommy and Doc Sanders, old-timers friends of the Vaughn’s, were here from Peshastin for the funeral
